Welcome to the Webshack!
The Dirty South are a Southern Rock tribute band based in and around Tyne and Wear.
We have been around for some 7 years or so now and have enjoyed playing a number of great events across the region.
The band has a set list based heavily in the golden era of Southern Rock, largely around the songs of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot, although we also cover more recent material such as ZZ Top and Steve Earle.
Too rock for country, too country for rock...
Named after a Drive-by-Truckers album, The Dirty South have deliberatley set out to try and play a style of music that, although popular, hasn't been covered by many of the region's bands, apart from "Freebird" and "Sweet Home Alabama" obviously. We do occasionally have to play those ones too. We prefer not to.
As of yet, we don't play any tracks off the album we took our name from. That will change eventually.
Have a look around, be our friend!
On our website you will find our latest gig listings and details of any special events we are playing at. Such as rallies, charity events etc.
There's also a contact page for anyone wanting to book us for their venue or event. We're happy to talk to anyone about a gig, so get in touch.
You might notice that, unlike most band websites, we've not bothered with a photo gallery page. Nobody ever looks at all of the pics and there's enough on the other pages for you to see what we look like. We've got hundreds of gig pictures and general post gig carnage shots on our Facebook page, so why not add us?
Come and see us...
